War and Nature: Saipan Silk Story Scarf, Wearable Art

250.00

Made to order; 4 to 6 weeks.

The photocollage on this silk twill scarf is taken from an image of a vintage Philippine book page. Part of my family military history is the story of my grandfather, Zero Wilson, who survived the Bataan Death March, and started an orchestra and theatre in a prisoner of war camp. I love old images of the Philippines and other islands in the Western Pacific Ocean. Their color and calmness belie the horrific battles that took place there over the course of the war. The island of Saipan played an important role in the US Marines and Army journey to Japan late in WWII.

This is a limited edition of 15, silk twill scarf.

Size is approximately 52 x 52 inches.

Due to the handcrafted process and inherent nature of the materials used, slight variations in color might be visible from the listed photos. A "story card" accompanies each scarf.
